Pallacanestro Trieste aquires a new player
Pallacanestro Trieste has acquired American forward-center, class of 1996, Emanuel Terry.
26 years old, 206 centimeters for 100 kilograms, Emanuel Terry was born in Birmingham (AL, USA), and grew up basketball among the Railsplitters of LMU - Lincoln Memorial University, with whom he played from 2014 to 2018.
Terry has experience playing basketball in Turkey, at Banvit Basketbol Kulübü (now Teksüt Bandırma BK) and in Israel, at Hapoel Jerusalem; in September 2020, he joined the ranks of KK Crvena Zvesda, the Red Star of Belgrade, a Serbian team playing in the Euroleague. After a two-year stint in the NBA Development League, serving with the Phoenix Suns and Stockton Kings, Terry landed overseas again in 2022, in the ranks of Orleans, in the top French basketball league. At the beginning of the current season, he settled in with the Samsung Thunders in Seoul, South Korea, where he played 24.1’ of game time, with 11.3 pts per game, 9.0 total rebounds and an average rating of 16.3.
“As is well known we were looking for a reinforcement,” said Mario Ghiacci, “and as much as the market does not offer great cues right now, we managed to add an element to our roster that we consider extremely useful.
“First of all, I would like to thank the ownership for this important addition” – says coach Marco Legovich – “which undoubtedly increases our available solutions. His European resume in leagues such as Turkish, Israeli and French, as well as his important experience in the Euroleague with Red Star Belgrade, are certainly an important calling card. Terry is a versatile player with excellent physical qualities, capable of expressing his verticality and quickness within the pick and roll game. Defensively, he is an area intimidator, with great timing for assists, stops and rebounding presence. Finally, his responsiveness allows him to be a factor defensively, marking both longs and holding defensive changes on the outside.”

A partire dal 2019 Terry ha messo a curriculum esperienze in Turchia, al Banvit Basketbol Kulübü (oggi Teksüt Bandırma BK) e in Israele, all’Hapoel Jerusalem; nel settembre 2020 è entrato nelle fila della KK Crvena Zvesda, la Stella Rossa di Belgrado, team serbo che milita in Eurolega. Dopo un biennio trascorso nella NBA Development Legue, in forza ai Phoenix Suns e ai Stockton King, nel 2022 Terry è approdato nuovamente oltreoceano, nelle fila degli Orleans, nella massima serie del campionato di pallacanestro francese. All’inizio della corrente stagione si è accasato ai Samsung Thunders di Seoul, in Corea del Sud, dove ha disputato 24.1’ di gioco, con 11.3 pt per partita, 9.0 rimbalzi totali e una valutazione media di 16.3.

Il suo curriculum europeo in campionati come quello turco, israeliano e francese, oltre all'importante esperienza in Eurolega con la Stella Rossa di Belgrado, sono certamente un biglietto da visita importante. Terry è un giocatore versatile, dalle eccellenti qualità fisiche, capace di esprimere la sua verticalità e rapidità all'interno del gioco del pick and roll. A livello difensivo è un intimidatore d'area, con grande timing per aiuti, stoppate e presenza a rimbalzo. Infine la sua reattività gli permette di essere un fattore in difesa, marcando sia i lunghi che tenendo i cambi difensivi sugli esterni.
Oggi alle 12, ora di Seul, Terry è partito per fare ritorno negli Stati Uniti, dove sono in corso le pratiche amministrative connesse al visto per farlo arrivare a Trieste, a disposizione di coach Legovich, prima possibile.
